India Post GDS Recruitment 2026
The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India has released Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-II, July-2026 through Notification No. 17-12/2026-GDS dated 20 August 2026. Applications are invited for vacant Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak posts in different postal circles/divisions.

GDS employees generally work in postal offices and related delivery, customer-service and postal-operation activities.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed the 10th Standard / Secondary School Examination from a recognized board, with passing marks in Mathematics and English. Candidates should also have studied the prescribed local language up to at least the 10th standard.
Other Qualifications
Candidates should have:
Knowledge of computers
Knowledge of cycling
Adequate means of livelihood
Age Limit
Minimum Age: 18 years
Maximum Age: 40 years
Age is calculated as on the last date of submission of applications. Applicable relaxations are provided for eligible reserved categories.

GDS Salary / TRCA
GDS engagements are paid through Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA). The notification specifies the following initial TRCA slabs:
BPM: ₹12,000 – ₹29,380
ABPM/Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 – ₹24,470
Eligible allowances and social-security benefits are also applicable according to the GDS Rules.
Selection Process
Selection is based on a system-generated merit list. The merit list is prepared using marks/converted grades or points obtained in the 10th Standard Secondary School Examination, with percentage calculated to four decimal places.
For candidates whose marksheets contain only grades, the notification specifies the prescribed grade-point conversion using a 9.5 multiplication factor.
Application Fee
Application Fee: ₹100
Fee exemption is available for all female applicants, SC/ST applicants, PwBD applicants and Transwomen applicants.
The fee, where applicable, must be paid within the prescribed application period. The notification states that the fee is non-refundable.

Complete One-Time Registration.
Verify mobile number and email ID through OTP.
Enter personal details carefully.
Login using the registration number and password.
Enter 10th-class educational details and marks.
Select the eligible division and post preferences.
Upload recent photograph and signature.
Preview the application.
Pay the applicable fee.
Submit the application before the deadline.

Application Correction Window
A two-day correction window is provided after the application closing date:
23 September 2026 to 24 September 2026, up to 5:00 PM.
Candidates should carefully verify all details before final submission because further correction is not allowed after the correction window expires.
Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates must attend physical document verification within the prescribed period. Documents may include the 10th marksheet, identity proof, applicable caste/category certificates, date-of-birth proof and the required medical certificate, among other applicable documents.
